Why is there a Paper Shortage?
As you know, the pandemic has affected the global supply chain in many ways. What used to work fairly seamlessly in the background to manufacture, transport and deliver products to the consumer has been disrupted. Yes, it started with toilet paper, hand sanitizer and empty grocery store shelves, but nearly a year and a half later, we’re seeing shortages in a variety of industries. From computer chips and cars to running shoes and yep, you guessed it…PAPER.
What does this mean?
Virtually all paper products are in short supply as mills deal with increased demand, reduced production and shipping bottlenecks, causing problems for all. So it could mean a delay in your printing projects-either because of a shortage of the paper needed to print on or due to shipping delays.
But rest assured that we have established great relationships with our paper vendors over the years and are working with them to secure what we need to keep your projects moving forward. What can you do?
Don’t worry, the global paper shortage is not in your hands, but there are some things you can do to help minimize issues. To start, reach out about any project you have as early as possible. The more time we have on our side, the better equipped we will be to face any delays.
And consider being flexible with paper types. Perhaps the paper you usually use for your business cards is unavailable. Instead of waiting it out, let us provide you with some alternate options. Who knows, you may even like it better!
When will this end?
Ahhh, that’s the question of the day…or rather the question of the last year and a half. And we sure wish we had an answer for you, but we are also experiencing a shortage on crystal balls so bear with us.
